Big Bad Wolf Book Sale

I had plan to return back to campus yesterday morning and I just decided to check the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale website for one last time. If I'm not convinced about going the day before, I was definitely fired up the moment I saw this at the website: Horrible Histories books at RM8 eachhhh!!! Oh gosh..one of these books cost quite a sum usually at around RM32 and now they are at RM8? I could have owned the entire collection! Time to raid Amcorp Mall!

So, there's a slight change of plans in that I won't be going back to Nilai so early and I would make a detour to Amcorp Mall first instead. Considering that the bookfair opens only at 10am and I'm actually ready to be out of the house by 9am, I gather that I would be there early and there would be plenty of parking available to me. I was right and yup, got myself an excellent spot and straight away head to the third floor. Even with me being so early, there were already lots of people there. What the newspaper reported was true, because people were literally carrying boxes to contain their books and most of them were seriously buying books by the boxes. One of the first sections I checked out was the science fiction and I saw Magic the Gathering, Halo and Star Wars novels sold at RM8. I was kinda hopeful that Starcraft or Warcraft novels will be on the list but unfortunately, couldn't find any of them. Nor could I find any decent non-fiction historical books on sale. Despite that, I would still say the selection of books there are still quite recent, just that it doesn't cover all.

Within 30 minutes of being inside, the place is starting to be swamped by even more people. I managed to grab a box to contain some of my book but by then, the crowd is so big that I had to raised my box above the my head as I navigate through the crowded alleys. After browsing through, my selection for purchase are 11 Horrible Histories, 3 Foul Football, 2 Culture shock books (Great Britain and USA), 1 Palgrave International Relations Essay Book, 1 Gary Neville Biography, Infected and Contagious by Scott Siegler and Star Wars: Death Star. Total worth of books is 155 British Pounds and the current exchange rate would translate that to about RM867 worth of goods. The price that I paid for all my books - RM174. Muahahaha..these must have ranked among one the greatest deals I pulled off, the first one being of course, an original Tony Hawk Underground 2 PC Game for S$5 in the past. I don't think they'll come again in another lifetime..haha.

This is seriously worth it..paid RM174 for RM867 worth of books. Super book sale indeed. The iBan must have been wondering what she is doing across the South China Sea at Borneo when there's such a juicy deal at the Peninsula..lol. Especially when she shops for books and claims book rebates from the government..haha. I'm just wondering though how they could actually sell it for so cheap. Surely somebody must have bear the cost. Lol..if I'm a shrewd businessman, I would buy huge quantities of some books for my bookstore and sell them somewhere else. Oh well, I'm absolutely delighted with my purchases. It's gonna take awhile to munch all those materials. =p

The Curve

Since this week is a long weekend following a public holiday today, I went to makan and have a few drinks at the Curve with my boss and his friends. That was my first time going there..lol. (okay okay..I'm still slowly rediscovering the different places in KL after having the opportunity to stay there for a prolong period). Anyways, the Curve looks like a neat place to hang out. It has a nice "street" of eating places but they consists mainly of high-end restaurants like Italiennies and TGI Fridays. There are a couple of bars over there and the first one that we went to have a drink is "Laundry". There's also the "Library" at Cineleisure (Damansara..not the SG Somerset version..lol). Ah, the names of these bars are so misleading. Imagine your friend calling you one day and asking you where you are and you say "Library", or "Laundry"..lol. It's a nice ambience at the Laundry but no bands were playing on that day. Library was more crowded due to the fact that people are loosening themselves on the eve of a long weekend and there's also a KDU function going on there. Oh yea, on the way also I managed to bump onto Lee Shih, one of the well-known lawyer bloggers in the Net. Apparently he was having some dinner at Tony Roma's..haha.

Then today, I went to the Curve again but this time to sing karaoke with Grace, her colleague Alex, Kevin and Elizabeth. Haha..we had a great time and some hilarious moments. Some songs like Boom Boom Pow are a-must if you wanna laugh your brains out during karaoke sessions. I'm quite impressed actually with the library of songs that the karaoke machine has, especially on the rock band songs selection. I would suggest Linkin Park if u wanna scream your guts out. I nearly went breathless trying to sing Numb..haha. One of the most fun songs to attempt was Supermassive Black Hole. There are three different vocals sound here, one being Matt's falsetto verse and then Chris' bass chorus and finally, the ending off whisper scream by Chris. Lol..had great fun attempting that with Kevin =p. Seriously, one day I should organise a karaoke session mainly for rock band lovers so that we can scream our hearts out..haha. The karaoke session was worth the money, Rm18 for the singing session, main lunch set, one drink and unlimited amounts of soup and salad.

In KL itself, there were plenty of going ons for this long weekend. I got to discover this in the Net (too late unfortunately) about a Malaysian Christian Lawyers Conference that's held at PJ Gospel Hall today. The theme "Justice Through Love and Healing" was based on the verse in Micah 6:8. Hmmm..there's a variety of different speakers and one notable one was Dato Dr. Cyrus Das, one of the counsels for the Lina Joy case. The various topics that are presented in the conference were really good and relevant for both Christian law practitioners and law students. Some example topics touch on how to use one's role as a lawyer for God and tackling challenges of faith and integrity in daily lives of the legal profession. I would love to attend it but as I said previously, I discovered it too late and there seems to be a need to register early. Hopefully they'll have another round next year.

It's good to see a section of Christian Lawyers in Malaysia standing up and come together for a conference like this to tackle issues and reaffirm their faith in the marketplace. Afterall, the apostle Paul is a lawyer himself and I belief God has given different gifts to those working in the legal field for them to be a testimony and blessing to those around them. A quick search on the net doesn't seem to yield any associations for Christian lawyers in Malaysia. In Singapore they have the Lawyers Christian Fellowship, a wing under the Graduates Christian Fellowship. Malaysia also has a GCF (grew out from FES actually..haha) but no LCF wing and there's a Malaysian Catholic Lawyers Society too. Perhaps it's time for an establishment for a Malaysian Lawyers Christian Fellowship? I pray that someone does take up the banner to form it, coz it would be good for both Christian law practitioners and students in Malaysia to come together with a firm desire to walk in the ways of the Lord.

Oh yea, another event happening around in KL/PJ area is the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale at Amcorp Mall. It's even reported in the newspapers that 5000 people flocked there and are bringing boxes of books home. Mhmmm..still considering whether I should go anot coz I heard that traffic and parking there is horrendous.

DAP Cafe

I went to have dinner with Vei Da yesterday at SS2 and we ate at this interesting place called Rocket United (a.k.a DAP Cafe). I know Tony Pua's service center is at PJ but a cafe owned by DAP supporters and decorated with political themes and stuff certainly draws curiosity..haha. They have a giant sighboard on top of it too. The whole place looks pretty cool with the "modern-looking "old kopitiam setting, something like Old Town White Coffe. There are souvenirs and newsletters on sale too. The thing that caught the biggest attention was of course the giant photographic mural of Lim Guan Eng and Anwar in a mass rally. That mural would be unthinkable 10 to 15 years ago..lol.

The menu looks colourful and the photographs inside certainly grabs attention. There's a photo of Lim Kit Siang in his younger days after winning elections and then Lim Guan Eng in the mid 1990s after being arrested and placed on handcuffs. There's not much to choose from in the menu and the price of the food is around the same as most modern cafes. Haha..I told Vei Da that I won't feel bad paying extra or more for the food since I know that the funds will go into DAP for their next political effort. I called Assam Seafood with rice and yea, it tasted quite good actually although Vei Da's Ipoh Hor Fun wasn't that good. After we paid our bill, I checked the receipt and discovered that there's 0% Government Tax and 0% Service Charge! Haha..here's why I think:

0% Government Tax: The money ain't gonna go into the federal coffers. But I thought of an interesting but cranky situation where if DAP does form part of the federal government, does this mean that the cafe will start charging government tax and the rest of Malaysia don't? Lol..

0% Service Charge: For the people dude! Speaking of being true to the motto of community service..haha.

Oh well, that was fun. There were plenty of other nice food stuff at SS2 and one day I should really take time off to explore around.

3rd Week in

It turned out yesterday that I did not need to go to Desa Palma to bunk in afterall. I stayed up to watch footie outside at the tom yam stall and by the time it ended at 3am plus, I was too lazy to pick up my things to walk all the way to Block D of Desa Palma. So I decided to take my car and park it at a carpark in between Blk F and Blk G, lowered my driver's seat, and slept in the car since it's just a couple of hours before I need to wake up for church at 8.30am. I dozed off quickly and woke up promptly at 8.30am with the feeling of aching shoulders and stuffy car and just in time to spot Lerd's wake up sms. I went to Blk E public toilet to change and brush my teeth before heading out to fetch the rest of them to church. Ugghhh..my shoulder still aches while driving and I concluded that Proton seats are just not suitable at all for any sleeping.

Haha..in church, Kevin has his 5th surprise and celebration. He's like a king now, repeated celebrations throughout the week..lol. When I got back to the house, I couldn't stand my sleepiness anymore and I got myself an afternoon nap to replenish the lost hours of sleeping.

Today I went in to Jalan Duta Court alone to file in and submit some documents. At first, I was kinda hesitant to go since I'm kinda worried that if I were to file in wrongly, my boss would get into trouble. Nevertheless, I decided to give it a try. I managed to find my way there and to my delight, there were plenty of parking since there are very little cases going on in the afternoon. I donned my full black and white suit and walked around with people assuming that I'm a lawyer again because of my attire. I do feel as if I'm Hitman going undercover..haha. Mhmmm..I had to go to a few registration offices before being redirected to the correct one to file divorce matters at second floor of the high court (civil) with a specific designation of the family section. After filing and sending in the relevant stuff, I took the opportunity to have a look at the legal bookstore there before going back. Time flies, and now I'm in the third week of my job already! =p

Quality Finishing

Don't mess with Super Scot Fletch

The loss at Stamford Bridge 2 weeks ago saw the Blues cementing their place at the top. United is not about to let that stay there so they gotta have grounds to make up for. Everton's visit to Old Trafford is filled with interesting tales of relationship between club and players. Of course, the most notable one being Rooney, old Evertonian boy, then apparently, Owen was a former fan of Everton even when he was playing in Liverpool. And then there's Saha, returning back to Old Trafford and currently, he's outscoring both Owen and Rooney personally. Tim Howard also returned, as always on Everton games. Only Phil Neville was missing from this intercity reunion.

Man Utd looked organised for this match and dominated in terms of possession. That was a good response following the international break. There were a few times which they were able to break the deadlock early on with efforts from Rooney and Giggs. It was not until the 35th minute that brave Scot Fletcher smashed in a stunning strike from outside the box to put United 1-0 up. It has to be said that Fletcher has improved tremendously this season. Woe to those who write him off because he's certainly pack a punch in terms of damage done. The combative midfielder not only attempts to take more shots this time, he's starting to intercept balls in the center and really fought tooth and nail for possession. Fletcher's utility shouldn't be underestimated when Rafael was substituted later off later where he filled in at the right back. He's staking a strong claim already for a regular place and it seems that Fergie is happy to reward him with that. It's unthinkable to say this a couple of years ago but Fletcher is perhaps one of the most underrated midfielders in the Premier League now given the impact that he has given to United.

Owen also had a few very close chances to get onto the score sheet but alas, it was unfortunate that he couldn't put one in the net eventhough some of the runs he did were really timed well. The second goal came in the second half when Rooney's shot missed the goal by a wide margin. Apparently, all the Everton defenders thought it was going out for a goal kick. But not Giggs as he was there to pick up the ball and delivered it back into the the center of the penalty box to the surprise for most of the Evertonian defenders. A header knocked the ball to Carrick's path and he duly slammed it into the bottom corner with technical precision. Valencia showed his hunger for goals when he too popped one in past Howard. 3-0 and it was another day at the job or stroll in the park for Man Utd. Where Owen and Rooney failed to find the net, it was the middle men who put on their shooting boots for the match. It was quality stuff from the midfielders and they drilled in right quality finishing that has been absent from the central midfield in many years. Kudos especially to Fletcher who has upped the quality of his game as he looks set to be another United academy graduate becoming a permanent fixture in the Man Utd team. Fletcher may not be Fabregas but few can question his fiery passion for the team like Rooney when he plays the game, unlike some lethargic figures such as Berbatov..lol.

Birthday Bash for the Bear

It was an awesome start to the weekend..haha. Today was Uncle Bear Kevin's birthday and so yesterday, we had planned a series of surprises for him which started during DNA time. Grace tried the first surprise on monday and apparently it failed because Uncle Bear saw Tze's car..lol. So, yesterday's massive plan-up was to make up for the failed attempt..haha. Right after work on Friday, I headed straight to Bangsar from my workplace to pick up Sophia and Lerd from her house. I've never travelled to Bangsar from TTDI or Damansara before but I kinda got some clues from travelling to Jalan Duta the other day and then also from checking out google maps where the route is not really that complicated. Just go straight all the way and then make a few turnings towards the last part and according to google maps, it should take less than 15 minutes.

Hmmm..it took longer than expected coz of the massive jam at the turning to Jalan Maarof. And we departed from Bangsar later than expected coz Lerdie needed to pack her stuff. The journey back to Grace's house was not that jam and the rest were well waiting for us for the plan to start. Kevin obviously didn't know that Pastor Vic is not gonna show up for DNA..haha. So, we acted as if we are waiting for him and even started with the usual worship session. Kevin was also rather distracted from our operations because he has a SPM student to tutor..haha. So when he went back into the room to have a look at his student, Grace and her mom whipped out my bread and placed a candle on it and all of us started singing the birthday song. He came out of the room after hearing the birthday song and realised wad's going on...ahaha. Kevin went back in again and then the steamboat stuff were all taken to be placed on the table. When Kevin came out, he just stared at it with his eyes wide open wondering what happened to Pastor Vic..haha.

After steamboat, we played some games and then plan C for third surprise was executed with Charmaine pretending to merajuk and left the place in a hurry. So, one by one we also leave and giving Kevin the impression that DNA meeting is over. He also didn't know that Sophia and Lerdie are staying over, and so he thought I'm going to fetch them back. What we did was to disperse, and then one group went to grab the cake for the 3rd surprise while the others kept him occupied. It took us quite some time to find a good spot to light the candle and we waited in ambush behind some plants when he was walking back..lol. By that time, I think he felt as if the surprises were never ending..haha.

At the next morning, Kevin brought us to makan at one kopitiam where there were lots of hawker food. It was fully packed but we managed to find a place to sit anyways. After makan, I quickly rushed down back to campus before 12 to grab the draft copy that has being amended from the law office. After dropping off Lerd and Sophia and their respective destination, I realised to my horror that I left my hostel keys at the house. Uhhhhhhhh..looks like I have to spend the night at Sophia and her brother's unit at Desa Palma. I went straight to Seremban upon the revelation of my forgetfulness and had some pork burger first before venturing to the publishers.

As of now, I'm just wandering and getting the net at the campus common room since Soph's place does not have internet. Arghhh..next time really have to pull my own ears to remember hostel keys!

Jalan Duta High Court

Last Monday's visit to the High Court was interesting. I drove my boss and his clients to the KL high court at Jalan Duta and when we reached there, there was no parking spaces to be seen. The whole place including the parking lots are all swarmed with cars already. People, ermm..I mean lawyers are even parking illegally outside along the roads coz there's simply no place to put their vehicles. The narrowness of the path leading upwards to the High Court saw many of them resorting to parking up the curb to prevent their vehicles from blocking the way.

Well, the Jalan Duta High Court Complex is a rather impressive sight. It looks like a miniature version of the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya..haha. The insides look very high-tech and we proceeded straight to the civil courts family section. When we entered the court, it was already filled up to the brim, with all the seats in the public gallery taken up and the counsel area is filled with lawyers representing their client. I helped my boss to fill up the court form and then I went forward to pass the form to the court secretariat sitting there. This is the funny part. The clients actually filled up some extra stuff at the form that were not necessary and so the court secretariat just crossed it out. And then she asked me if I'm the lawyer for the case..lol. It must have been the black coat and white shirt that I'm wearing and it's hard to differentiate since that's the dress code that only lawyers will wear. I gave a sheepish grin and replied that I'm just handing up the form for my boss..haha.

It took some time before the judge appeared at her seat. Before she enters, the light above the door behind the judge's chair will start lighting up red. So, 1 by 1 the applicants moved forward to present their case and yea, most of them were done within 5 minutes. Sounds quite familiar to my experience when I was younger. My boss also took 5 minutes to present his case since it's quite a straightforward with clear mutual agreement and no disputes. I got to explore more around the court when I went to return my boss' robes at the 5th floor. The 5th floor is where all the criminal cases are tried and the business sector courts were also there. Apparently, there's a cozy room for lawyers to chill out after or before their cases and there's free wi-fi there..haha. While zooming around KL, I've also managed to find out that Grace's place is actually quite near to Mid-Valley, Bangsar and UM. That's great because that means I can easily go to UM if I wanna make any research.

It's quite an experience moving around the court complex. There's this feeling of grandeur and intimidating aura that surrounds the place. Anyways, there's more to come next week and I'll probably get to have a look at the Shah Alam high court too :)

On another random point, I found out that Muse is coming to Southeast Asia - Singapore to be exact but they're NOT coming to KL like what they did in 2007..Noooooooooo! Matt, please do consider coming to KL!!

Client Conferencing

One of my boss' client came into office yesterday and I had my first experience of client conferencing. Well, the law school did have an assessment on client conferencing during year 1 legal skills but this is the authentic experience and cannot be compared to the academic assessment since were given a hypothetical situation there. Hmmmm..for one, client conferencing in Malaysia itself made me realise that it is not only important to have strong mastery in Bahasa Malaysia and English. Chinese dialects are a must and the ability to translate them inside out with ease to English. This is because not every client in Malaysia that comes to the lawyer's office would be able to converse in English comfortably. Yesterday's client converse mostly in Cantonese and it's very impressive that my boss could translate all the information that is conveyed to him in English. I helped him out abit in clarifying some of the things with the client and yea, the vocabulary in all spoken languages must be really good because filing the statement of claim requires utmost precision on the details. Every single bit of detail like time, nature, type and technique of objects must be accounted for. Hmmm..with that, I've ended my 1st work week.

Today went to church early in the morning for worship practice since I'm serving this Sunday. After practice, I needed to go straight to Seremban to settle the law magazine's 2nd draft. Ugghhh..apparently, the publisher made some mistakes in taking short cuts to edit the legal articles content. On the publisher side, it's not that easy to make amendments too because they needed to change alignment using Adobe Illustrator and it's not as easy as using Microsoft Word. Every page is laid out like an artwork and every shift would mean that all the pages would have to be re-edited again so that the footnotes would align back. It was raining cats and dogs along the way and the Seremban roads were filled with puddles of water everywhere. I wanna eat pork burger but venture failed because it's opened from 11am to 3pm and then 6pm to 12am. Pork burger mission failed. As I'm starving already since I didn't eat any breakfast in the morning, I went to the next best thing: Coney dogs, waffles and root beer float at A&W. Once I got my stomach filled, I headed back to hostel and I was thoroughly exhausted when I reached. I realised I have been driving for a good few hours already non-stop, zooming here and there. Time to grab a few breaths of air before heading back out tomorrow.

All the men and ladies in black

I followed my boss to the Shah Alam complex yesterday where they deal with legal matters pertaining to courts. Well, the case that we are doing is still in the stage called "case management" which meant that it's the preliminary stage before the case is being heard by the judge. So, the lawyers will need to submit their documents to the court registrar there before they can set their hearing dates. When I reached that area, I'm instantly surrounded by a legion of men and ladies in black with suitcases lining up to submit their documents. The suitcase especially looks a lil funny with its trolley and squarish looking features. That's where all the bundles of authorities and documents are stored when they go around. And everyone of them has them! You can easily spot a lawyer in the vicinity by the black jacket and that particular style of bag..haha.

The funny thing over there is that everyone seems to know everyone that passes by there. Perhaps it's such a small community that you are bound to meet friends in the same legal line. I think I counted 5 to 6 times where my boss greeted other bunch of lawyers that he knows as friends. Ahhh..it'll be interesting though if your friend happens to be the opposing team..haha. As my boss mentions, litigation is all about waiting and waiting. You have to wait if your opponent has missing documents, you have to wait if your client doesn't send you the right documents, you have to wait to get things certified, you have to wait to get the case shifted off to another date of hearing..lol.

Since my boss' opponent has already filed in another date, we are free to return back to office after confirming it with the registrar. Hmmm..I did some filing and proceeded on to draft out a statement of claim. Today's task was a little challenging and this involves the tabulation of costs after a case is concluded. Lol..I didn't know the preparation of letter can cost RM1 per page and basically, the legal firm can claim back all costs including postage, photostatting and printing cost. Haha..letter corresponding in the legal world is not that cheap. Every single time there's a change or a mere small development like attaching a receipt has to be followed up by a letter to inform the relevant parties of the changes. It could easily come up to about 30-50 letters going back and forth (depending on the length of case) and each of these letters can cost about RM3 for the process of preparing printing and sending it.

Hmmmm..working life is so far so good. I realised that no matter how jam the place can be, it takes only a maximum of 30 minutes to reach my working place. Lol, and I always end up being there early coz I also wanna eat breakfast before starting work.

Monday 9 November 2009

First day at work

Today's my first day at work and I must say, it's a whole lot of new experience for me. I'm currently working in a law firm at Taman Tun Dr Ismail in Damansara. I have not been around Damansara so, naturally I'm not familiar with where to go and how to even get to the office but thanks to Kevin and Grace, I have directions to go there now and it takes less than 15 minutes to get there on a minimal jam traffic from Grace's home, like this morning. Lol..I was dearly hoping that I remembered all of Kevin's instructions yesterday and thank God I did. I managed to get the TTDI safe and sound at about 7am and my boss came in about 10 minutes after I had reached. Anyways, the parking at TTDI is very irritating because I need to go to machine and print for a ticket. It's 50 sen per hour and I can only print a ticket with 3 hrs max. So this means that I have to come down at every 3 hr interval unless i decide to park somewhere else at a permanent car park.

Since my boss had to rush off to do something, I help him to jaga the office until he's back at 11am plus. Meanwhile, I read some of the case files that he has, especially one of them in which we will be attending court tomorrow. Before having breakfast, I did a short exploration around TTDI and found out that there's really lots of stuff to makan there. There's Domino's, Popeye's, Pizza Hut, Ayamas, plenty of independent cafes, mamaks and a few Chinese kopitiam. Not to mention, KFC is just a mere 2 minutes walk away from the office and that's where I had my breakfast today..haha.

When my boss came back, he gave me a briefing on the stuff that he passed to me to read. Hmmmm..I learned about the basics of civil procedure and yea, it's nothing like the academic version of law. It starts with letter of demand, then statement of claim, then more paperworks to bypass. Lol..Intima red tape is miniature in comparison but at least the law documents are not as nonsensical as the proposals and event reviews that we send to Intima. There are lots to look through like receipts, invoices, doctor's handwriting and medical reports. I figure out that a lawyer needs to be as well verse as a doctor on the different scientific names of the human anatomy since they will be dealing with injuries from accidents and fights. I also just learned today that the scientific medical term for a blackeye is Periorbital Haematoma. (Haha..how cool was that?). I manage to do lots of hands on stuff today, including drafting a statement of claim (the real one this time) and helping my boss to correct the court's final draft of order on a case that was recently concluded. Oh yea, while looking through one of the Court of Appeal cases, it does seem that the bundles there are really like mooting..haha.

Time seems to pass by slowly today but I think it's gotta do with the environment of being at work..lol. Oh well, tomorrow is an adventure on its own too at the court xD

Hopelessly bad

These are times of misery for the Kop

Wow, it's not a win away at all for the turn of fortunes that Benitez had anticipated. It went on to be bad, bad and very bad. The Kop does best, but only against their fiercest rival. They wake up only then and they slept back immediately afterwards. Quite similar to the Man Utd from 2004 to 2006 where their only notable victories were against their main rivals while they slack at the other matches. The loss at Fulham meant that Benitez has lost 6 out of the last 7 matches and even Burnley is not losing at that rate. Mind you, they are losses, not even draws. How long will his head stay there? Benitez's head would have been long gone if he were to be at Chelsea, Newcastle or Bayern where the alarm bells rings fast. I don't think Mourinho or Scolari can last in front of Abrahamovic to go past a losing streak of 3 games. Maybe they're keeping Benitez there for old times Champions League sake. But simply, the blame cannot be placed on the manager squarely because the squad is ravaged heavily by injury and the remaining players themselves gotta wake up their ideas too

If Benitez wants to find solace at the Champions League, he can't do that either. The Scousers' qualification are hanging by the thread after Lyon's last minute equaliser to deny them a win. Fiorentina now needed just a draw and then Liverpool will be out irregardless of any results. They can consider getting a consolation prize at the Europa League instead..ahaha. No Torres and no Gerrard makes the Kop look like plain Jane. I wonder whether I can see "Leeds United" written on the walls of Anfield..lol.

United escaped with a 3-3 draw to qualify definitely for the next round. This weekend match up against Chelsea will be crunchy. If there's a need to put a loss in Chelsea's team sheet, this will be the weekend. It won't be easy at the Bridge but some damage should be done there. I hope United will learn from lessons from their Anfield encounter.

Monday 2 November 2009

It's over..for now

Hmmm..exam's period over now but somehow, there's a melancholic feeling hanging over the air for me. I don't really feel that great after finishing this time because nearly all papers have some problems on their own other than Public International Law which of course, remains the most well attempted of all of them. I'm kinda pleased with the amount written for PIL and yea, that's the only paper which I have a good feeling about. Haha..you can't mess with Stan over historical or political stuff. =p Yesteday's equity paper was..hmmm..how would I term it..'ambivalent'. Maybe I should have done 3 certainties, maybe I should have not. I just hope the term "short answers ftw" in the past comes true this time too. A part of me felt that maybe I should have tried harder for the other papers or revised more. I just hope that some reasonable marks will come back soon, or else it would be super hard to get good results in the finals..sigh.

Now that it's two months hols, there's lots of stuff to do. I was thinking of going to visit Mama but due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to end up staying in campus until I go to work on the 9th. It'll be quite an experience working at a law firm even as a noob watching at the sidelines..haha. I hope I can learn something from there during the one month. xD It'll be a whole month of living with another family too, so I wanna thank Grace and her family for putting me up..haha. Other than work, I hope I can make some progress with my guitar and scaling by learning a few of my favourite rock tunes. Not to mention lots of movies and Lost Season 5 to catch up..haha. Till then, it's time to clear up the mess from the exams in my hostel room and prepare the materials for my two final thesis papers.
