DAP Cafe

I went to have dinner with Vei Da yesterday at SS2 and we ate at this interesting place called Rocket United (a.k.a DAP Cafe). I know Tony Pua's service center is at PJ but a cafe owned by DAP supporters and decorated with political themes and stuff certainly draws curiosity..haha. They have a giant sighboard on top of it too. The whole place looks pretty cool with the "modern-looking "old kopitiam setting, something like Old Town White Coffe. There are souvenirs and newsletters on sale too. The thing that caught the biggest attention was of course the giant photographic mural of Lim Guan Eng and Anwar in a mass rally. That mural would be unthinkable 10 to 15 years ago..lol.

The menu looks colourful and the photographs inside certainly grabs attention. There's a photo of Lim Kit Siang in his younger days after winning elections and then Lim Guan Eng in the mid 1990s after being arrested and placed on handcuffs. There's not much to choose from in the menu and the price of the food is around the same as most modern cafes. Haha..I told Vei Da that I won't feel bad paying extra or more for the food since I know that the funds will go into DAP for their next political effort. I called Assam Seafood with rice and yea, it tasted quite good actually although Vei Da's Ipoh Hor Fun wasn't that good. After we paid our bill, I checked the receipt and discovered that there's 0% Government Tax and 0% Service Charge! Haha..here's why I think:

0% Government Tax: The money ain't gonna go into the federal coffers. But I thought of an interesting but cranky situation where if DAP does form part of the federal government, does this mean that the cafe will start charging government tax and the rest of Malaysia don't? Lol..

0% Service Charge: For the people dude! Speaking of being true to the motto of community service..haha.

Oh well, that was fun. There were plenty of other nice food stuff at SS2 and one day I should really take time off to explore around.

Yeah i saw that pic in the papers! There were quite a bit of disagreement about the allowance of the cafe's owner to use the logo because that would mean favouritism over the other DAP supporters but well, i guess they approved it anyway =) hats a pretty good description of the shop =)it'll be worth visiting =)
