Barack Obama is Mr. President

Obama and Biden are the new men of steel at the White House next year

A new chapter of history dawns upon America. A new political era has emerged. It has come a long way since the days of its Civil War between Abraham Lincoln against the Confederates. Approximately 45 years after Martin's Luther King Jr's "I have a dream" speech, an African American finally took the helm of a superpower in the world, the 44th president to be precise. His words ring through like an echo from the past,"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Martin Luther King Jr's dream is living its reality now. The sacrifices of people like Rosa Parks would truly not have been in vain.

Obama garnered a total of 349 electoral as compared to McCain's 173. It looked like quite a big margin in this but the popular votes were narrower standing at Obama's 52% as compared to McCain's 46%. Indeed, there was massive worldwide reaction and attention on Obama's elections victory given the USA's de facto world leadership role. It's quite a good feeling for everyone around the world. The Kenyans especially celebrated as if it was their own presidential elections! lol..But generally, the world hopes for a less "arrogant" America and hopes that Obama would be the face of moderation especially for countries in the Middle East. It would be interesting to see though how Obama would organise the smooth withdrawal of troops from Iraq. For those that support McCain, they would point this as Obama's weakness given that he did not have much experience in these matters as compared to a senior politician like McCain. This is fascinating..haha..Stan is now living at one of the possible major historical turning point in world history and politics. Lol, maybe in 10 or 20 years time, I'll look back at see how the events eventually fold itself in the future.

In any case, all eyes would be on Obama when he takes his seat at the White House next year. And God bless him in his task.
