Nice outing

So, after showering, went to meet her and then we took the usual bus to KTM. It was a smooth train ride to Mid-valley where we get to sit the whole time. Anyways, the public holiday is only for Negeri Sembilan, Kedah and Perlis. So, for the people in Selangor and KL, it's still a working day. Gosh, if Inti were to be located a few more kilometres into the KL border, we wouldn't be having holidays..haha. We reached the cinema area around 1pm or so and wanna take the 2.30 pm show. But it's kinda full so we took the 3.00 pm show. The price of our tickets were RM 7 per person (Mid-valley is in Selangor!!.hahaha. So, it's counted as a normal working day =p) Btw, we watched the Dark Knight (I'll post up a review of it in the next entry) and it's definitely a fantastic epic movie of 2.5 hrs that is deserving of a thunderous applause. Ohh, and we ate lunch at Carl's junior..lol. Everytime go mid-valley sure cannot miss that one. And I'm being some water tank by downing 3 full cups of Carl's junior iced tea..lol. Fortunately my bladder didn't explode as a result of that =p.

After the movie, went to take the KTM back and what a time to take it when everyone's rushing home. It turned out to be worst than yesterday because this time I can't even turn anywhere. The crowd eased out when they unload at Kajang and Serdang (as usual). Sardine time did not end there though. Same thing with the bus because everyone's rushing back to the university campus also. We ate dinner at one of the shops and then headed back to our rooms. Wahaha..I really wished that yesterday's time would come to a standstill and not move. Gonna miss her even more now that she's going back early for the weekend.

Malaysia vs. Chelsea FC

I've got many stuff to write since there's lots of cool happenings over the past two days. Btw, I just came back from an outing with *someone* today..haha. Lol, I'll type about all the events slowly, starting from yesterday's long anticipated visit of Chelsea to Malaysia where Stan is fortunate enough to get a ticket for the match.

So, after class, Vincent and me went to change and then set off for our venue at 4.30 pm. It was a comfortable train ride from Nilai to KL central station. But from KL central station, it's just total sardines mashing. We gave one train a miss because really too full already. Then, when the second one came, it was so funny. Vincent just walk inside the train slowly and suddenly a massive jolt just threw him instantly deep into the carriage. Ack, I feel the "love" from all the Malaysians that are squeezed together in the KTM train..lol. We reached Shah Alam station at about 7 pm plus and we had NO idea how to go to the stadium because there's like no taxi or buses in sight. Just lots of clueless blue-coloured fans wandering around the area. We just realised then that we should have stopped at Batu Tiga where all the people just walk straight to the stadium. Fortunately, there's two other Indonesian guys looking for a taxi too and in the end, we found one willing to take us there for around RM13 (with each of us paying RM3 each). That funny taxi fellow was unwilling to take us nearer to the stadium because he scared of the traffic jam but we keep telling him that we won't get out of the car until we catch at least a glimpse of the stadium =p. Btw, we passed by Kelab Shah Alam where I used to hang out when I was small coz my mama used to bring me there.

Shah Alam stadium is simply superb! This is like the third time I'm attending a live football match with a massive crowd (30,000 above). But I have to say, the Singapore national stadium in Kallang is pale in comparison to Selangor's stadium. Anyways, Kallang stadium is old and that's why they wanna pull it down and build a new one. There's a replay screen in the scoreboard of Shah Alam stadium. The atmosphere in the stadium is just wonderful. The roar of the crowd is deafening and it just instills some form crazy feeling that you wanna join with the rest of the stadium and scream your lungs out. Btw, another funny thing is that when the big brothers of Chelsea like Terry, Essien and Lampard got their name called, the stadium roars with excitement. But when it comes to other people like Wayne Bridge or Alex (in which they are quite well known to football watchers though), the crowd didn't shout as enthusiastically.

The match started with cheers from the whole stadium and barely two minutes pass, something 'lol' happened and it looked as if it's like a 'Malaysia boleh' moment. *clears throat*..Wayne Bridge MISSED his kick while trying to receive a high ball. (that's why Cashley gets the left back spot, dude) Oh man, the result was that a Malaysian player went on the attack and nearly drilled the ball past Cech who was feeling a bit blur at the start. Later, it was Chelsea with the majority of the chances. Anelka and Shaun Wright Phillips did a couple of nice runs and beating the offside traps. It was Anelka who drew first blood after using his pace to outrun the sole defender man-marking him. Chelsea did tried a couple more times but kudos to the Malaysian goalkeeper for keeping them out and performing a few nice saves on some shots to keep the score at 1-0 during half time. A few players were introduced during half-time and Chelsea managed to get another one up through "Cashley" Cole. It looked like Chelsea is giving chance to Malaysia but seriously, a scoreline of 2-0 only?? I think the stadium crowd anticipated more in that if they wanna win, they should go all out and butcher the poor Malaysian side. A minimum of 4-0 is expected. They wanna see the GOALS. And Shevchenko still can't score......against a Malaysian side..lol. In any case, it's a nice experience watching a bunch guys which you always see playing in the TV and they are playing right in front of your eyes now. For the Malaysian players which played against Chelsea and exchanged jersey's with them, I think they'll be telling the tale to their sons and grandsons for years to come. Who knows, all of them could have went for a mamak session together late at night =p

The match finished at about 10.45 or so but Vincent and me had no idea where to find the KTM station. We definitely cannot catch the last train already but the problem now is that we don't even know how to get out of the stadium area. It's massive traffic jams and we were clueless where we should spend our night at. One scenario is that we take to KTM station and then spend the night sleeping there and taking the first train that comes. Thankfully, we need not take that path because we were fortunate to have one of Vincent's friend staying around Sunway to get a transport to fetch to us to his house where we tumpang for 1 night. So, I kinda feel glad to be able to get some proper sleep at a proper place to get the freshness in preparation for an anticipated outing that I had with *someone* today..lol. So, we took the 8am something train and headed back to Nilai where I'm going to take a shower and have a change of clothings. The next part of the story will be continued in tomorrow's entry :)

Viva la Vida

I hear Jerusalem bells a-ringing, Roman cavalry choirs are singing

Since I'm so free now (lol!), I'll write a review on Coldplay's latest album, Viva la Vida which was released in June this year. It can be seen that Coldplay is venturing into a new zone based on the style of the album. There's a general Hispanic feel to the album given the title and also the band's new fashion front. Haha..I like Chris Martin's red and yellow cloth armband. There's politics injected into the album too and perhaps a host of other cultural mixtures. The cover of the album is taken from the French art piece of 'Liberty leading the people' which commemorates the French Revolution. So we have like music videos filmed in Italy, title in Spanish, cover art by a French..lol.

One thing about this album is that it's very unorthodox, in a sense that it uses many techniques which is not common in mainstream music. I dare say that some of the songs are breaking artistic boundaries and even more unorthodox than Muse. As such, it's not easy to accept what you just listened at the first time since it may sound weird. Even Chris Martin said that there was no lyrics in the first song since it's meant to be their safety net.

Anyways, some of the songs that are really good in there are Viva La Vida, Violet Hill, Strawberry Swing and Lovers in Japan. Viva La Vida has an anthem-like feel to it and the iTunes advert using that song is pretty cool =p. Violet Hill is THE political song in the album. I absolutely loved it and the guitar solo in it is just catchy! Violet Hill is also probably one of the rare moments where Coldplay uses heavy distortion for the electric guitar. Strawberry Swing is gentle and psychedelic which gives the listeners a tingling sensation.

If one had difficulty listening to Muse, then he/she would have a hard time listening and grabbing the concept in this album. Personally, it's quite a good album for me since its kinda artistic. Stan loves creative stuff :)

I took my love down to violet hill
There we sat in snow
All that time she was silent still
So if you love me
Won't you let me know?

Relaxing weekend

It's the weekend once again and it's much more relaxing than previous ones in July since all the presentations and the MPW project are done. As usual, I'm miss *someone* during weekends..lol. Anyways, I think I'll try to finish up my Perdana essay and input in some extra stuff from the books I borrowed from the library. Oh yea, this weekend is also the first time I can really play some PC games since all the other weeks were filled up with so many stuff to do..lol.

Hmmm..this was one of the songs that I played during worship session at ICF on Wednesday. It's 'Who Am I' by Casting Crowns. I'm really impacted by the lyrics. For those of us who are feeling down or insignificant, remember that God is always there to watch over us no matter who we are. It was by His grace that we are saved from the wages of sin. Thank you Lord for the cross :)

Who am I - Casting Crowns

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart

CHORUS
Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are
I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
Vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours

Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love and watch me rise again
Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me

[Chorus]

Eventful Wednesday

A senior law lecturer from Sheffield University came to give a talk about criminal law reforms specifically in the area of homicide. Lol..when he speaks, he reminds me of Arctic Monkeys and the rockers also originated from Sheffield.

Today's the last meeting for Inti Christian Fellowship and I was supposed to play the drums for worship session today. Haha..I think I did alright because a couple of people said that they like my style of playing. So, thank you Lord for giving me the guidance and inspiration to play :) We also had a farewell ceremony for a couple of the members who are leaving for abroad to study. There's time set aside for feet washing which is a symbolic action which was done by Christ himself for his disciples. Anyways, it has been a good semester for ICF and although it's my first semester there, I can find myself growing spiritually after a long hiatus of stagnation. I learned a lot during my time there and I'm looking forward to it next semester..haha

Btw, what a way to get myself known on first impression to *somebody*'s mother. Ayyyee, Stan comes with hands clean ok..haha. His feelings are only for one and only one and they don't go everywhere once he found her.

Brrr..it's presentation day tomorrow for Malaysian studies. It's only 3 minutes of speaking but the preparation for it can go for eternity. =p

A-Muse-fied

Gosh, I'm purely hooked on Muse now after freshly inputting more of their songs into my brain. The thing about Muse songs is that you cannot get them into your head or swallow all of them at one shot. Their songs have to be taken in chunks and bits in order to appreciate their creative artistic features. I got to know Muse in early 2007 and like most people, initially thought that they're bunch of weirdos. It didn't help when the first song I heard from them was 'Supermassive Black Hole'. I was like, "Who's this guy using falsetto to sing some really weird tune?"

Then, I decided to check out 'Knights of Cydonia' after hearing from TG about a weird music video with cowboys and laser guns. Another reason why I check out was that Channel 5 at that time was using Muse riffs for the Prison Break advertisements. In any case, I was quite impressed with the tune of 'Knights of Cydonia' and then I started listening to other songs like 'Time is Running Out' and 'Hysteria'. The one that really nailed my liking for Muse was 'Plug in Baby'. Oh man, that starting electric guitar riff is just totally awesome and memorable. I then watch a couple of their live performances in Youtube and once again, I wanna reiterate that they're one funny rock band whose live performances are better than their album versions. They can replicate the album quality of their songs and even do better. Their album versions are really good but they improvised with so much creativity and inject so much of liveliness in their live performances that it's just so amazing to watch them and headbang along with them. In short, they are musical GENIUSES.

So, after listening to H.A.A.R.P, the first batch of new songs inputted into my mind are 'New Born', 'Invincible', 'Blackout' and 'Apocalypse Please'. These songs are not marketed as much as 'Knights of Cydonia' or 'Time is Running Out' and so, not many would know them. Of all of them, I'm most impressed with 'New Born' cos the electric guitar beautifully comes in after the piano melody. Each of these four are have very distinct musical styles. 'Invincible' has an optimist feel to it, 'Blackout' is mild and melancholic and 'Apocalypse Please' is Gothic piano.

Then, still got another next set which I inputted just a couple of days ago - 'Feeling Good', 'Micro Cuts', 'Take a bow' (NOT Rihanna please..haha), and 'Soldier's Poem'. This set just proves that Muse is a total "out of this world" rock band. 'Feeling Good' is a jazz piece, very brilliant cover of the original song. 'Micro Cuts' is some heavy rock falsetto screaming and 'Soldier's Poem' has the Wilfred Owen feel. 'Take a bow' has a fusion of techno and heavy rock - wait, yes..TECHNO, so divergent from the rock branch but they could reconcile both in one song! Oh man, this is unbelievable but Muse can play jazz, rock, indie, electronica, classical piano, gothic - you name it! - and fuse and mix them around to create some musical masterpieces. Seriously, they're very very talented and I don't think many bands can match up to their range of artistic musical capabilities. I'm blown away by these geniuses :)

Serving through music

Haha..Pastor Chris was literally doing rap during praise and worship! Today's service was really good and everyone was just flowing with the spirit. After service, we had a short worship team workshop which explains about the fundamentals of working in a worship team. Well, for the technicalities of playing in the band, I more or less had an idea bout it since I worked with one during my SJI school days. This include stuff like dynamics and showmanship. However, I learned something new after listening to Justin (he's a pro musician) speak and I think that's really true. There's a difference between an ordinary band and a worship team. Ordinary band play for themselves but a worship team gives glory to God. The thing is that the person may be technically not so good but if he plays with the right heart, it will be amazing to see how God moves and improves him in all aspects of his life, including his music skill.

Anyways, they wanted to do a demonstration but the drummer of the day had went back already. So, everyone immediately looked to me to provide as a backup and fortunately I brought my sticks along :). Hmm..I feel that I would learn lots of stuff and grow spiritually from the GFS worship team. God gave me the talent to play drums and yea, I would go in faith to serve Him :)

B and G

I once heard of a story between a boy, B and and a girl, G. B was sure that G was the significant half that he has always being waiting for and so, he told her about his feelings. B knows that G had some feelings for him too but she was not confident of committing into a relationship after being hurt in the previous one. She was worried what if B turns out in the end to be like her previous one. How could she possibly regain her trust of a guy after having her heart shattered to pieces? What if B gets tired of her one day and looks at another direction? What if the passionate fire of courtship turns into a cold meaningless routine in the future? She just knows that if she goes into another relationship, she also has to prepare for the possibility of feeling the sting of a breakup and she does not want to go through that tormenting painful sensation again.

B has also considered about the two years down the road where he would be leaving the country to study in England for one year. G wonders if their relationship could stand the test of time of being apart. However, B wants to tell G that when that time comes, there would not pass a single day where he would not think about her when he is abroad. He would miss her every single day. It is an obstacle but with the grace and guidance of God, B would do all he can to make sure that G is not left out or feel alone. When the relationship comes out from that trial of fire, it would be even stronger than before. The distance makes the heart grow fonder. B has never doubted his level of loyalty because he knows that he has God to guide him through all of it.

Right now, B just wants G to know that he wants to be part of the healing process of her emotional hurt and pick up the pieces of her shattered confidence and put it back together. He wants to be her pillar of support when she's feeling sad and down. B wants to be her companion in the journey of life together and shares his moment of joys with her. B wants G to look at it in another perspective. What if it works out in the end? What if B is unlike the others? In order to overcome our fears and worries, we need to face it and stare at it in the eye. All humans fall at some point of time, and we could only go further in life if we learn to pick ourselves up from our falls. G does not need to pick herself up alone because B would do it together with her to overcome her hurts. Relationship has two elements in it - either the mysterious passionate or the regulated pragmatism. If its just mysterious passionate, it is a relationship that is reckless and based on physical lust with no regards of future plans. If its just the safe regulated pragmatism, the relationship would turn out more like a business contract than natural emotions. A successful relationship has a fusion of both, the mysterious passion to keep the fire burning and the pragmatism to keep its rationality grounded along with other ingredients like trust, understanding and knowledge of responsiblity.

B will continue to wait for the day when G would hold his hand as a sign of her trust.

Wanted

Lol..I waited for *someone* to watch it first before writing a review on this. Nevertheless, for unsuspecting people, warning : spoilers ahead..

Wanted begins on a humorous note regarding fat bosses and boring jobs although it's based on a serious theme called assassination. The protagonist's life was sorry enough and of course, he was glad in a way when he was introduced into an adrenaline pumping shady underworld organization. The storyline's a little corny but it does have a good twist in the end. Cross turns out to be father and not the guy at the beginning of the show. Wanted is a cool movie not because of its storyline but the physics and action motion that is involved in it. It was the physics that made the movie worthwhile watching eventhough one may not fancy its story progression.

The trademark of the movie is of course, the curling bullet. Everytime I watched a bullet curl, I always think of Owen Hargreaves/David Beckham curling freekicks. It's so distracting..haha. Some may think this is just Hollywood, but curling bullets are no myths. If I'm not wrong, the bullets must be of spherical (round..just like the old ancient times) instead of the modern pointed ones. In any case, the fighting scenes choreography is good and the train derailing scene just takes the audiences' breath away. For the acting part, I just admire Morgan Freeman. Gosh, he just has the commanding aura and is so eloquent in his speech. Top class performance from him. I'm looking forward to see him in the Dark Knight too..lol.

In some ways, I think that the Hitman movie should have injected a bit of those projectile physics for drama's sake. Overall, "Wanted" is a great movie to watch if you want to experience the adrenaline rush. Just don't think too much about how a bullet can go 360 degress and giving people headshots and finally boomerang back to the shooter. And the last words of our protagonist is classic : What the f*** have you done lately?

Hectic session cleared

I'm so glad that my Malaysian law presentation is over. It's been a hell of a time trying to complete it. So, technically, the difficult part of this week is cleared and I don't have to worry much until mpw presentations next week =p. Ahhhh..I only had like 3-4 hrs of sleep after rushing through the script and powerpoint like mad. By right this morning was supposed to be extra time for me to finish up but ack, i need to go to the SAO area somemore to help out with the law awareness week at 9am. At around 10.30 am, i cannot tahan liao and told one of the sem 2 that I need to rush back hostel to finish up my presentation. Fortunately, I managed to clear the last 10% and got the slides ready too. I was first to present haha..due to the "lotterry ticket" i pick two days ago. I really thank God that I have enough materials to last for 18 minutes of the presentation. (thanks also to the encouragement given by *someone*..hehe..really appreciated it :))

Btw, I've met the "legendary" moral lecturer Steven twice today. First, it was at the law booth where he just grab a handful of those declaration human rights article papers and then walked away. the other time was at the Amnesty international death penalty talk. Ummm..he doesn't look very friendly though as compared to Raymond..hahaha. Anyways, AI's talk offer an interesting perspective on death penalty since they're opposed to the usage of it. I can't really help much at the law booth today cos of my work burden. Now that it's gone, I can have a clear mind to help tomorrow.

Nice little adventure detour

What the %@^%@^#%!!! I miss my bus ride in Singapore by 5 minutes..a mere FIVE minutes. As a result, I have to pay the effects and consequences that came along it which comes in the form of precious time and energy. *tooooooooot*

Anyways, I completed the primary mission of collecting my A' Levels certificate from Nanyang - the reason why I came all the way to the south in the first place. Probably the last time I'll visit that funny place..haha. I met up with Sandeep on the way to collect it but unfortunately couldn't stay for long since I had got a bus to catch. Btw, the School Graduation Certificate is neat document. I'm fortunate to have my history teacher as the form tutor to write my testimonial since he has got the vocabulary to describe me..haha. I wouldn't want a maths teacher to write my testimonial..haha.

I was already halfway walking to the taxi stand when I realised that I forgot to take my newly-bought formal clothes. So, I ran back all the way to get it before rushing off to the taxi stand once again. When I reach the taxi stand, there's no taxis and there were like 3 extra people in front of me(and they just suddenly appear just when i wanna take taxi). After these pesky pple, I had my taxi and thankfully there's like no jam on the road but there's lots of traffic lights! Argghh..and when i reached the bus area, I rushed to the counter but the worker there say the bus left liao. I was like wth...only 5 minutes. But shit already happened and nasi sudah menjadi bubur. I then went back home to take some refresher and milk to quench my gastric stomach. Anyways, I would say it's a small blessing in disguise because I found out that I actually forget so save my presentation script onto my thumbdrive. So, in being late, I had a second chance to save it and prevent myself the tedious task of rewriting it all over again..Whew! *relieved*

After I had rest enough at home, I started my journey or rather "pilgrimage" to Larkin at Johor Bahru. First up is MRT trip, then switch to bus 170 (lost count the amount of times I keep beeping my ez-link card from coming up and down the bus). Oh, and the Singapore checkpoint is so *toot*. I spent a good 45 minutes standing down there to get my passport chop. Thankfully, I had good Muse music blasting at my ears to keep me company. After checkpoint, take 170 again to Larkin and reached there about 1.50pm. I was wondering if I would end up getting stranded there..haha. Then, at that bus station there, I just hop on to some random bus after some peddler sold me the seremban ticket in which the bus is about the leave. Of course, there's some worry that the random bus would end up at KL instead of Seremban and I would need to waste extra time travelling again. Again, God is good and the random bus did stop at Seremban. Once I reach there, I see no bus going to Nilai available there and so, I take nice little jaywalk around the street of Seremban to the KTM station. I found out the way after some scouting mission last month. It was nice to have a seat in the train and finally, the airport bus that goes to Inti was right at the Nilai bus station when i reached there.

And so says Stan regarding his little "adventure" today after missing the bus by just 5 minutes. That 5 minutes translated into the whole day of "amazing race mode" and he's still screwed for his presentation day on Wednesday :)

Everything except work..lol

As of now, Stan has not completed even 25% of his Malaysian law class presentation. And half of his day would be gone tomorrow as he would be travelling back. That's because Stan is distracted by so many things yet again..haha. Today, I have drums to practice, Muse live performance songs to immerse in, a brother to help, get a set of formal clothes and *someone* to think of =p

Haha, I really miss my good old drum set with titanium cymbals. It felt superb to play on it once again and this time, I'm not restricted to a one hour limit or some set without a proper right cymbal. Hmm..it's nice to experiment with a couple of new beats too and revise back a few of the new ones that I learnt. Anyways, I'm feeling quite full now after drinking mama's home cooked soup. It's being quite some time since I tasted her cooking..hehe. Oh, I missed listening to a subwoofer. I think if I managed to find some extra cash, I will get one to go along with the my speakers at my hostel. Muahaha, then I can rival those noisy pesky brats below me. I should let them have a taste of Matt Bellamy's electric guitar distortion, Dominic Howard's left-handed drums and Chris Wolstenholme's kaleidoscopic bass guitar at subwoofer level.

Gosh, I think I need to get my arse working at the completion of my script. Looks like I don't need to sleep tonight. Maybe I'll catch sleep at the returning bus trip tomorrow.

Catching up on old times

I was supposed to meet Tai Guan at the bus-stop opposite my house at 11.30. I thought I was late when I came down at 11.45. I saw a guy with quite short hair(army cut..haha) listening to mp3 at the bus stop and I thought that it was him waiting there. So, I laughed and said hi to him. No reaction and he gave me a funny look. Instantly, I knew I said hi to the wrong guy and I quickly walked away. So embarassing and pai seh! Anyways, I told him to find me at the MRT cos I need to buy a new ez-link card. Even he can't recognise me because of my longer "rocker" hairstyle.

We went to Nanyang office and asked them for the A' Level certs but the office was closed. Darn, this means I had to go on a Monday morning and then rush back to Seremban afterthat. In the end, we decided to go Cafe Cartel to have our lunch. I've decided to pick Western food cos it's hard to get proper Western meals in Nilai. Anyways, I ordered a combo of spaghetti and sirloin steak together. The bill came and guess wad, the service charge + tax was 17% of the bill which was about an extra S$7 per person. Zzzzzz..but fortunately TG managed to squeeze out a 10% discount using his student card. Haha..we had a great time chatting bout stupid old times at Nanyang, all the funny bunch of folks that we came across before and also on our current different experiences. Later went to lepak in the usual areas of Kinokuniya, HMV and Yamaha music store..lol

Anyways, I'm absolutely delighted with my purchase from the music store today. I got Muse's live CD at their Wembley concert 2007! They titled that album HAARP, another connotation to Matt Bellamy's fascination about conspiracy theories..lol. Mine was the special box version and for an extra S$1, I got mini posters of the band members!..haha. Muse live performances are usually mind-blowing and to own them in high quality audio version plus also the DVD video..wahahaha. Now, I can listen to "extended versions" of Stockholm Syndrome and some of the songs in the album also got the extra electric guitar solo and riffs. Definitely a dream compilation for rock lovers :)

It's a small world

I was really really really thankful that she reminded me about my passport. Imagine what would happened if Stan got stranded at Larkin bus station or the checkpoint..lol.

Anyways, today I got a lift from Veida's father who happened to be fetching his own boss to Johor Bahru. The first part of the journey was driven by Veida because his papa want him to practice his driving..haha. Then we stopped halfway at one of the overhead bridge restaurants to have a break and Veida's father then took over the driver's seat from there. What happened was that all 3 passengers (me, Veida and his father's boss) were sleeping soundly in the car and that influenced him to feel sleepy too. Then, he really cannot tahan already and then stop at one of the rest area to take a 15 min nap. To stop himself from dozing off, he got a couple of crackers and sweets. Everyone in the car actually had late nights. 3 of us slept at abt 2 am while Veida himself slept at 5 am since he had to complete his project work. When I had enough sleep liao, I had a nice chat with Veida's father.

The world is indeed very small. I overheard Veida's father speaking about Sebana and I told him that my uncle (my papa's eldest bro) worked there before. When he heard my uncle's name, he exclaimed his surprise cos my uncle was actually his boss back at Sebana and they worked together before. He also know my aunt's from Melaka. Woah..imagine what went through Veida's father mind..his son's friend turns out to be his former boss' nephew..lol. Small world indeed.

It was very nice of Veida and his papa in giving me a lift. I'm really grateful to God for giving me such wonderful friends. God bless them :)

Thinking aloud

I hope my "creative" attempts don't turn out to be too lame. I know I made the right decision. It's unexplainable cos my instinct tells me so that I've found the right one. I'll wait. Take your time :)

Thoughts on a Monday night

Just came back from one of the law student's birthday BBQ. Apparently there's some basketball final between the university students at the court and it attracted quite a crowd..haha. I would stay and watch if it's a football competition. Basketball just doesn't turn me on. And the funny thing is that tonight, nobody is playing football and all the courts are filled with basketball activities. For goodness sake, can't somebody show some love for football?..lol.

On another note, it was good news during Malaysian Studies lecture today because the date of my group presentation is scheduled to be on 24th July. Wahaha..this meant that we have plenty of time to complete the powerpoint and it won't clash with my Malaysian Law presentation. With the first day of presentation on 14th July, it also meant that Monday surely have no class. Aha! This is just perfect for a weekend to go to Singapore to find mama. Besides, I needed to return to Nanyang to collect my original A' Levels certificate and testimonial. Otherwise, I can't continue to study in Inti after 1 semester..hahahaha.

Quiet Sunday

I was surprised today when Pastor Victor invited me to join the worship team as a drummer. The GFS worship team had lost several members because many of them had to go abroad to continue their studies. Hmm...sometimes it's not that I don't wanna join but I feel that there's a constant pressure in maintaining standards in the main service and sometimes I do feel that I'm not up to it yet. In any case, if it's God's calling, I'll give it a try nevertheless and follow His word.

Right now, I'm drowning in the completion of my Malaysian Studies project. Apparently, the materials provided by my group members were insufficient/irrelevant or they just overlap with the extra notes that I have. Looks like I have to use my brains to crap up some analysis and recall stuff that I study from my A' Levels Southeast Asian History lessons to fill up the required word count.

Sigh..in the midst of all the silence *I'm missing someone terribly*. Hope she comes back soon.

Law Nite

It was a tiring but fun night at Holiday Villa Subang Jaya. They said it's semi-formal, but everyone ended up wearing formal anyways and non-red clothings (the theme of the night was red). We gathered at about 6 pm or so and as the law faculty gatherers became more, people at the bus-stop were staring and wondering why these peeps are wearing so formal.

Anyways, I look like a pirate with my free and easy white collar shirt..maybe a drunk and messy one. I managed to catch the long awaited glimpse of Subang Jaya after so long. It was the road mama used to drive past when she takes me to school. Last time was just a place with a newly built shopping centre and lots of construction material. Now, there's billboards and even a private college beside the shopping centre. As the bus turns into the Subang Medical Centre, flashes of memories started coming back coz that was the place where I was hospitalised when I was eight years old. Lol, I still remember the hospital food and the daily blood test injection I need to take. The good old Western restaurant "The Windmill" is still there after all these years. Not to mention Sheraton and the Crocodile Farm. And yea, I do remember Holiday Villa but I didn't really enter the place when I was young.

One of my law lecturers brought her cute kid to the dinner and apparently he's more comfortable with guys than gals =P. Before the food was served, there was some performances by outside people from other universities. Apparently there's a lack of musical talent in the law faculty..lol. Ah, perhaps I may perform there in the next law nite but for starters, I need an electric guitarist, bassists and a keyboardist =p. The performers were a duo, one acoustic and a singer. The second song was jazz but I'm familiar with the first. It's the White Stripe's "Seven Nation Army". Wonderful vocals by the singer but I thought the performance would be so pro if there's an electric guitarist plus a drummer. Btw, the music that was provided during dinner by the hotel oldie band (no vocals just instrumental) was very soothing and relaxing. I recognised a couple of old classics there too.

Now, to comment on the food..I'm absolutely delighted with the quality of it. It seriously made NYJC's prom night food look like crap given the price I had to pay for it. It's buffet style for Law Nite and the variety which I was impressed with was the Western appetizers. The mushroom was thick and nice, there's raw cheese (yay! my favourite!) plus some very interesting recipes. One was the mushroom filled with veggies which my bro always like to experiment and the other was honeydew with bacon and spring onions. Ah, there's also chicken with rosemary seasoning (another recipe which my bro tried before..with a duck..lmao). The deserts were beautifully decorated but I was already very full after going for two rounds.

The bus came about 12 am and by the time we reached back, I was just exhausted. It didn't take me long to crash onto bed and doze off..haha.

Preparation

It's less than two hours to law nite but what a disaster on my clothing department. I've being imagining that I have certain clothes in my hostel cupboard when actually, I left them in Taiping and didn't bring it along with me. I've mixed up my trips of Singapore, Seremban and Taiping in my mind and right now, I thought I had brought my jacket when after searching for 30 minutes or so and to my horror, it's not there! Oh my, looks like I gotta compromise with what I have now though and I'll probably be wearing a collar shirt instead. Hopefully, it doesn't turn out to be a fashion disaster =p. Of course, most fortunately that law nite doesn't require formal clothing..haha.

On another note, the venue of the law nite would be at Subang Jaya. Woah, this would be like the first time in almost 8 years when I would actually enter into that area? It would be interesting to see how much it has changed over the years.

They have done it again..

It's a "lol moment" in Malaysia once again as Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is served up with fresh accusations of sodomy. The poor fella got owned by Dr. Mahathir in 1998 and now he's getting it once more from the government of the day. Well, the timing couldn't be better when there's price hike, statutory declarations and members of parliaments who wanna cross over. Woah, they must have been really desperate to throw up such a thing. Could it be like the desperate coup attempts by Yanayev during the last days of the Soviet Union? On another separate note, two policemen in Terrenganu had made a report that their chief tried to sodomise them. Oh my, I didn't know that the @ss is such a hot sensation in the country now =p

Cynical and crude jokes aside - Seriously, it's easier to convince people that Anwar was a Taliban than a sexually active gaylord in his 60s. Lol, that's the "ingenious" way that some segment of some organization came up with. Maybe they should learn a tip or two from a country down south where LKY and son party co. use better excuses to sue opposition until their pants drop. Geez..Anwar is already married with 6 children and at the point in time where he's going so close to become Prime Minister, not even Michel Foucault would sacrifice a lifetime dream for a few sessions at a condominium. This time, even those that are sitting on their fence about Anwar would easily denounced the validity or truth of a second sodomy.

These are trying times in Malaysia with so many things setting off at the same time. I guess this is the normal process that any country would go through when it is submerged under democratic reforms. Nobody knows what is gonna happen in the future but for sure it ain't gonna be pretty.

Dateline Extension

*Stan punches his fists in the air* Yeeeaaaahhhhh! I thought it was a goner already with the dateline approaching so near. But, unexpectedly, a lifeline was thrown. I'm currently writing for the Perdana Leadership Foundation Essay Competition and the dateline was supposed to be yesterday. I didn't really have the time to complete it due to my law subjects revision and malaysian studies assignments. So, as I arrived on the dateline itself, I was furiously typing out the contents. This is not an easy essay to write because there is a need for research and the ever so irritating bibliography that all university students will be familiar with. As such, I can't just throw in whatever I have in my mind like a narrative. Since last week, I'm feeling the pinch to meet various datelines and it's definitely refreshing now that I can take a big gulp of fresh air with the new dateline at 31st July.

Let's see what are all new datelines that Stan has to look out for : This Friday is the date due for the law article that I'm supposed to submit for the law magazine. 10th July is the submission for the written report of the Malaysian Studies Project. 16th July is Malaysian Law presentation. Well, at least there's no test to look forward to because I just did one yesterday..haha.
